Founded by the father-son duo Wayne Coates, President, and Brandon Coates, CEO, SteelCore was born from a shared vision to create a one-stop shop for construction and welding supplies. What began as a solution to an unfilled niche has grown into one of South Carolina's fastest-growing private companies.
Our Story
Wayne, with years of experience selling construction products like nuts and bolts, and Brandon, with a background in welding supplies and steel, realized they were serving the same customers. Buyers were forced to juggle multiple suppliers to get what they needed. That’s when the idea for SteelCore was born: a single, reliable source for everything from power tools and welding gases to construction anchors and steel.
SteelCore's impact extends far beyond the construction industry. Our clients range from builders to military organizations—our products are used on aircraft carriers, submarines, and armored vehicles. We also supply schools with essential items like face masks and hand sanitizer, reflecting the adaptability and reach of our offerings.

With trucks running daily to Charleston, Charlotte, and Anderson, as well as a local delivery vehicle, SteelCore ensures timely service for our customers. We even have trucks on standby for emergency orders, proving that our speed and agility are unmatched.
